Qualifications & Skills
Data Management and Analysis
Maintain data sets and workbooks to manage important plant science data
Review data to determine root cause of crop loss
Communicate and implement improvements based on root cause data
Oversee the collection of nutrient data and analyze for trends and changes
Supervise the collection and shipping of nutrient samples to third party labs for in-depth analysis
Supervise the collection and shipping of leaf tissue samples to third party labs for in depth analysis
Use statistical process control procedures to verify process parameters
Oversee plant yield data collection
Analyze yield data, and identify parameters for correlations and areas of improvement
Food Safety Program Oversight
Communicate issues that may contradict current, standard food safety practices
Ensure food safety standards are maintained for nutrient management activities
Manage Horticulture Systems, Personnel and Processes
Oversee nutrient management processes and procedures
Ensure nutrient targets are being met and maintained
Adjust nutrient stock tank recipes/concentrations per nutrient data results
Monitor critical horticulture equipment to ensure proper function and correct production parameters
Climate & control System Management
Maintain and calibrate nutrient dosing equipment (probes, pumps etc.)
Determine, monitor, and evaluate irrigation frequency and duration
Identify plant issues and implement appropriate actions based
Manage light recipes and photoperiods based on crop performance and climate data
Monitor, record and manage records of events that may impact crop performance
Fill out daily checklists to ensure all horticulture related tasks are completed as intended and document/implement new checklists as needed
Ensure employees are following all chemical safety requirements and utilize PPE to handle hazardous materials (acids)
Ensure the proper handling and maintenance of precision measurement equipment
Implement and monitor performance of new variety introductions
Inventory, purchase, and order chemical inputs for nutrient management
Oversee full USDA Organic implementation
Supervisor: 2 years (Preferred)
Horticulture: 2 years (Preferred)
Education: Bachelor’s (Preferred)
