Nutritional Wellness for All.

At Desert Farms Foundation, we believe that everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritional food. Our approach to providing this healthy food into communities without direct access is simple, easily replicable, and scalable. How? We bring the farm to them!

What Is A Food Desert?

Food Deserts are defined as an urban area in which it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food. The individuals living within these food deserts simply do not have access to a grocery store or other means to purchase nutritional food.

How We Help.

Using Brick Street Farms technologies, our foundation provides the container farms that are used to grow multiple varieties of fresh greens. We place these farms at likeminded non-profit community centers within food desert zip codes because of their direct proximity to those in need and their ability to house nutritional education programming for children and adults. We also work with the community centers to hire farm support specialists from their own communities, providing career paths in urban farming.

“We know this trifecta of providing the farm container, which grows over 500 pounds of greens per month, along with job training, nutritional education, and the ability to provide food as a medicine to communities in need will have a significant impact in areas that need us the most.”

– MADELINE MCNAUGHTON, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DESERT FARMS FOUNDATION
