Breaking news alert: Tinned fish is amazing! In this recipe we use tinned mackerel from Portugal, a milder and meatier alternative to canned tuna. The mackerel is canned in high quality olive oil, meaning you can use way less mayo in your mackerel salad. Served over greens and some toasted sourdough, this dish will be a great addition to your rotation of lunch recipes.
Not to mention mackerel is responsibly sourced and more sustainable than Tuna.
Ingredients For the Mackerel Salad:
- Tinned Mackerel
- Avo Aioli or Mayo
- Mustard
- Chopped Red Onion
- Salt
- Pepper
- Lemon
Other:
- BSFÂ Green Leaf
- BSFÂ Sunflower Sprouts
- Gulf Coast SourdoughÂ
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the mackerel salad. Serve on a toasted slice of sourdough bread along with a layer of lettuce. Top with your micro green of choice. Top with fresh pepper and a squeeze of lemon! Bon Appetit!
